Mike Abdul has stirred excitement across the gospel music scene with the release of his latest single, Fuji Rush, launched on June 20, 2025. The song, marked by its heavy percussion and thoughtfully written lyrics, showcases Abdul’s reputation for crafting creative and energetic gospel sounds that reflect both cultural roots and spiritual depth.
During the unveiling event in Lagos, Abdul described the track as deeply rhythmic and intense, offering more than sound—it carries a message, movement, and meaning. He explained that while the song remains firmly grounded in traditional Fuji elements, it blends other genres, such as pop and Afrobeat, to push gospel music beyond its usual limits.
According to him, the gospel is no longer boxed into quiet corners. Instead, it’s stepping boldly into mainstream cultural spaces, speaking in familiar sounds, and reshaping narratives through music that connects directly with the streets.
Fuji Rush draws from Abdul’s past experiences with the Midnight Crew but also marks a bold shift in direction. Unlike his earlier Fuji-themed tracks, such as Igwe, Korede, or Eyan Jesu, this new single introduces string and horn arrangements on top of traditional drum patterns, giving listeners a fresh spin on African gospel.
Summing up his creative journey, Abdul exclaimed, “This is Fuji Rush! I carry gospel, I carry groove, I enter studio, BOOM! Gospel don wear agbada!” Reflecting on his 20 years in the industry, he said gospel music continues to surprise him with its unlimited creative space.
As the founder of Spaghetti Records, Abdul also reaffirmed his commitment to shaping Afrogospel and supporting emerging talents. He said his label would remain a platform for bold cultural expression, blending faith and sound without compromise.
