The NFL, Dallas Cowboys, and Houston Texans have pledged a combined donation of $1.5 million to support families and communities affected by severe flooding in Central Texas. The league announced as the death toll approached 70, and local officials warned of more possible flooding following unconfirmed reports of another wave forming.
The joint contribution will provide emergency aid and long-term assistance to those hit hardest by the floods. The Houston Texans initially committed $500,000 on Saturday, expressing grief over the loss and damage across the Texas Hill Country. The team’s statement voiced concern for the missing children and offered prayers for their safe return. They also promised ongoing support for rescue and recovery operations.
On Sunday, the Dallas Cowboys announced they would match the Texans’ donation. The team acknowledged the emotional toll of the disaster, especially the loss of young lives. They confirmed their donation would go directly toward rescue, relief, and rebuilding efforts, in partnership with The Salvation Army.
Kerr County officials reported that more than a dozen campers had died by Sunday afternoon, with one counsellor and 11 campers still missing. The floods have caused widespread destruction across the region, leaving families displaced and communities in mourning.
Authorities continue to issue warnings and carry out evacuations as they respond to the developing situation.
