Nigeria Launches New Digital Platform for Citizenship and Business Services

The Nigerian Ministry of Interior introduces a digital platform to simplify citizenship and business service applications, improving efficiency and transparency.

The Nigerian Ministry of Interior has unveiled a new online platform designed to simplify and expedite the application and processing of citizenship and business services. Magdalene Ajani, the Ministry’s permanent secretary, announced the launch on May 17. The platform is part of a broader initiative to improve transparency, increase operational efficiency, and enhance public service delivery.

Ajani highlighted that the digital platform would ensure faster processing times and offer a smoother experience for users. It will be accessible to the public, businesses, and other stakeholders through two official channels: the Ministry of Interior’s website (interior.gov.ng) and the direct portal (candb.interior.gov.ng). For support or inquiries, users can also reach out via the email address provided: candb-support@interior.gov.ng.

The Ministry is dedicated to creating a more efficient, transparent, and secure citizenship administration system. This move is part of a wider effort to modernize its services through digital transformation. Earlier this year, Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo also announced plans to introduce digital landing and exit cards for visitors to Nigeria. This initiative is aimed at enhancing the country’s security by integrating immigration data with national and international databases for better decision-making and real-time clearance from security agencies like Interpol.
