Nigerian Hajj Pilgrims Urged to Support Leaders Through Prayer and Discipline

NAHCON urges pilgrims in Saudi Arabia to pray for Nigerian leaders, stay disciplined, and avoid excess baggage during the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage.

The Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Professor Abdullahi Usman, has called on Nigerian pilgrims to pray for the country and its leaders. During a visit to pilgrims from the North-West region at their tents in Mina, Saudi Arabia, he emphasized the importance of seeking divine guidance for effective leadership and national progress.

He pointed to the example of Saudi Arabia, where clerics regularly offer prayers for their rulers, noting that such spiritual support contributes to the nation’s stability and development. According to him, the success of Nigerian leaders directly affects the country’s wellbeing, making prayer a vital civic responsibility.

Professor Usman stated that his visit aimed to check on the pilgrims’ welfare, listen to their concerns, and ensure any challenges were addressed promptly. He reminded them to carry their ID cards at all times and respect local laws, urging them to represent Nigeria positively while in the Kingdom.

The 2025 Hajj operations were praised by the NAHCON chairman, who credited the smooth execution to cooperation among key stakeholders.

Deputy Governor of Katsina State and Amirul Hajj, Faruk Lawal, commended the commission’s efforts but suggested a streamlined visa process to reduce delays and boost efficiency.

NAHCON’s Commissioner for Operations, Inspectorate, and Licensing, Prince Anofiu Elegushi, advised pilgrims not to overload their luggage. He assured them that five litres of Zamzam water would be provided to each pilgrim, eliminating the need to carry extra containers.
