Nigerian sprinter Favour Ofili has applied to represent Turkey, following challenges with the Nigerian Athletics Federation. The federation’s failure to confirm her doping tests led to her exclusion from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. She also missed the 100m event at the Paris Olympics due to a registration error, though she finished sixth in the 200m final. Ofili clarified to the Athletics Integrity Unit that her move to Turkey is not financially motivated. World Athletics currently lists her as a Nigerian athlete. She remains qualified for the World Championships, scheduled for September 13 to 21 in Tokyo. In May, Ofili set a new 150m world record at the Adidas Atlanta City Games, clocking 15.85 seconds, breaking Olympic champion Shaunae Miller-Uibo’s previous record of 16.23 seconds.
