Former governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, has expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future, insisting that the country’s greatest strength lies in its diversity and the resilience of its people. In a statement released through his media aide, Ahmad Sajoh, Fayemi reflected on the nation’s journey while calling on citizens to embrace unity and renewed commitment to national development.
Fayemi acknowledged the challenges the nation has faced but emphasized that adversity has only strengthened Nigerians’ resolve to keep the country together. He noted that the sacrifices made by past generations should serve as a reminder of what can be achieved when unity and selflessness prevail. According to him, Nigeria has always shown the ability to rise above trials, a trait he described as proof that brighter days are ahead.
He cautioned against attempts to divide the country along ethnic or sectional lines, stressing that unity remains the only path to true greatness. “We are stronger together, and only through unity can we achieve the vision of our founding fathers,” he remarked. Fayemi urged Nigerians to draw inspiration from the resilience of the past while working towards building a more prosperous, just, and inclusive nation.
He also called on leaders at all levels to embrace visionary and selfless leadership that inspires confidence and keeps hope alive in the Nigerian project. Leadership, he said, must rise above personal interests to serve the collective good and lay the foundation for sustainable development.
As the country marks another independence anniversary, Fayemi urged citizens to renew their faith in Nigeria and in each other. He expressed confidence that with unity, peace, and shared purpose, the country would overcome its current challenges and secure a better future for generations yet unborn.
