Nine Arrested in Jigawa State for Cattle Rustling and Vandalism

Nine suspects arrested in Jigawa for cattle rustling and vandalizing public property, as NSCDC intensifies efforts to combat crime in the state.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has apprehended nine individuals in Jigawa State for their involvement in cattle rustling and the vandalism of public infrastructure. The suspects were presented at the NSCDC headquarters in Dutse, where the State Commandant, Bawa Boddinga, provided details on the arrests. He emphasized that these actions are part of the ongoing effort to address the increasing criminal activities in the region.

Among those arrested were Adamu Hassan, 40, from Kantamari village, and Hassan Adamu, 31, from Malam-Madori Local Government Area. Both individuals are accused of participating in cattle rustling operations. The remaining seven suspects, aged between 14 and 35, were apprehended for their involvement in destroying critical infrastructure in Danmanomi village, located in Gumel Local Government Area.

Recovered items included stolen livestock such as six goats, four sheep, and a calf, along with a motorcycle, a bus, farming tools, and weapons, including bows and arrows. Commandant Boddinga reaffirmed the NSCDC’s commitment to eliminating criminal activities and maintaining law and order, stating that efforts will continue to make Jigawa a crime-free state. He also directed divisional inspectors and area commanders to step up surveillance and operations across the state.

The investigation into the suspects’ roles continues, and Boddinga mentioned that further action would follow based on the findings. Authorities are also looking into any possible connections between these suspects and larger criminal networks operating within the region.
