The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, has issued a stern warning to the Oyomesi, urging them to steer clear of any plot against the newly installed Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade. The warning came during the Alaafin’s visit to the Oluwo’s palace in Iwo, Osun State.
While addressing his guest, the Oluwo stressed that traditional rulers must be respected and supported by all. He recalled past instances where opposition to a monarch led to personal ruin and warned that anyone working against the Alaafin could suffer losses in health, wealth, or even life.
Oba Akanbi declared that no Oyomesi member should oppose the Alaafin, no matter their influence. He added that such individuals could be rightfully removed by the king himself. He condemned any act of using the media to attack fellow monarchs, advising traditional leaders to abandon divisive tactics and embrace peace.
The Oluwo emphasized the need for harmony among Yoruba kings, stating that unity is essential for progress. In response, Alaafin Owoade echoed the sentiment, calling on traditional institutions across Yoruba land to work together for the good of the people.
