Oluyede Calls for Greater Sacrifices from Troops to Ensure National Security and Peace

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, urges Nigerian troops to make necessary sacrifices for national security while promising improved welfare and operational support.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has called on Nigerian Army personnel to make extra sacrifices for the peace and security of the nation. Speaking to troops at the 22 Armoured Brigade, the Nigerian Army Institute of Science Education and Technology, and the Nigerian Army College of Education in Ilorin, Oluyede emphasized the importance of national unity and maintaining peace.

Oluyede, as stated by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Lt. Onyinyechi Anele, reiterated his dedication to improving the welfare of the troops. His commitments include better infrastructure within barracks, enhanced educational facilities for the children of soldiers, improved medical services for families, and the provision of essential kits and equipment to boost operational efficiency. In addition, the troops’ Ration Cash Allowance has been recently increased to motivate them further in their efforts to safeguard the nation’s peace and unity.

In his address, Oluyede stressed that without a peaceful environment, development would be unattainable. He urged the troops to continue their efforts to eliminate threats to security, especially in Kwara State and its surroundings, assuring them that Nigerians are counting on their dedication to ensure safety and unity across the country.

During his visit, Brigadier General Ezra Barkins, Commander of the 22 Armoured Brigade; Brigadier General Damian Dieke, Commandant of the Nigerian Army Institute of Science Education and Technology; and Brigadier General Chidi Echebiwe, Provost of the Nigerian Army College of Education, briefed Oluyede on the challenges faced by their respective units and institutions.
