The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, has received high praise from the International Council for Ifa Religion (ICIR) for his dedication to protecting and promoting the cultural and spiritual traditions of the Oduduwa people. The recognition follows his donation of three acres of land to the council. This land, located near the Stadium Area along Route 7 in Ile-Ife, will be used to build the World Ifa Temple, which is expected to become the largest spiritual center for Yoruba traditional worshippers across the globe.
In a formal appreciation letter, the President of the council, Dr. Fayemi Fatunde Fakayode, thanked the Ooni on behalf of the Council of Araba and Oluwo. He described the land donation as a significant and historic act. Fakayode explained that preparations for the temple are already underway and highlighted the importance of the project, saying it will serve as a global hub for Oduduwa’s spiritual practices.
The gesture has been widely seen as a powerful statement of the Ooni’s ongoing efforts to uphold Yoruba heritage and ensure its transmission to future generations.
