Amotekun Corps operatives in Osun State have arrested three individuals for their involvement in a steel theft worth over ₦4.5 million. The suspects—Wilson Titus (26), Gabriel Simon (23), and Ogundele Sunday (32)—were caught during a surveillance operation at their workplace in Ede. The trio, who had been employed at the company, allegedly stole iron steel and sold it to scrap dealers at Sabo, Ede. Wilson Titus confessed that the stolen items were sold for prices ranging from ₦3,000 to ₦7,000, depending on the material’s size, before they were apprehended.
In a separate case, Ogunbunmi Yemi (38) was arrested in Ila-Orangun for breaking into a residential property and stealing valuable items such as a television, a generator, and iron rods. He claimed that the items were stolen to sustain himself. Meanwhile, another suspect, Biodun Akinwale (32), was caught in the act of dismantling aluminum fabrications from a newly built structure at the Ede North Local Government Secretariat. A resident noticed the suspicious activity and alerted the authorities.
The Osun Amotekun Corps’ Commander, Adekunle Omoyele, praised the intelligence unit for its diligent efforts in tackling criminal activities across the state, emphasizing the Corps’ ongoing dedication to ensuring public safety.
