A group of women from the Anambra Umuada—an association made up of first daughters—attempted to confront a woman in a public market after her private tape with a married man surfaced online. The incident, captured on video and shared widely on Facebook, showed the women arriving at the scene with symbolic items used in traditional protests. Their actions appeared aimed at publicly shaming the woman, who reportedly runs a business in the area.
However, their attempt was quickly disrupted by residents who opposed the intervention. The villagers pointed out that the Umuada, from another community, could not carry out such actions without following the appropriate channels. They reminded the group that formal procedures must be observed before any protest occurs within another village. This includes sending an official notice to the local authorities, who would then review the situation and respond with a decision.
The confrontation ended without violence, as the women were asked to withdraw until the necessary steps had been taken.
