A tragic car accident on Ringim-Kano Road in Jigawa State has claimed the lives of two people and left ten others injured. The incident occurred at around 10:40 a.m. on Thursday and involved two Volkswagen Golf vehicles. According to Mr. Umar Mas’ud, the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Dutse, the crash was caused by a combination of overspeeding and wrongful overtaking.
A total of thirteen individuals, all from Bareda village in Ikara Local Government Area of Kaduna State, were involved in the accident. Among them, two lost their lives at the scene while ten others sustained various injuries and were taken for medical treatment.
During the rescue operation, FRSC officials recovered a total of N2,166,700, which belonged to one of the deceased victims and a surviving passenger. The money was promptly handed over to the victims’ families in the presence of ASP Abdullahi Ibrahim, the Divisional Police Officer of the area. Mr. Mas’ud praised the efforts of the FRSC Unit Command involved in the operation for their honesty and dedication.
He emphasized the Corps’ ongoing commitment to integrity, transparency, and public service. Mas’ud also urged motorists to avoid dangerous driving practices such as overspeeding and reckless overtaking, warning that such actions could result in fatal consequences.
