Paul Pogba was moved to tears on Saturday after sealing a return to professional football by signing a two-year deal with AS Monaco. The emotional moment was captured on video, showing the 32-year-old midfielder overcome with emotion as he signed the contract that ends his long absence from the pitch.
Pogba had been without a club since Juventus ended his contract last year. This followed a four-year doping ban handed down in August 2023 after a failed drug test. The suspension was later reduced to 18 months in October, officially ending earlier this year. Despite the reduced term, Juventus and Pogba parted ways before its conclusion.
The World Cup winner last played a competitive match in September 2023. His return to Ligue 1 with Monaco now offers him a chance to restart his career in familiar territory. The video shows Pogba with his head resting on his arm, trying to hold back tears as he prepares to sign the contract. After putting pen to paper, he lowers his head again, clearly emotional, while being consoled by one of his representatives and AS Monaco’s sporting director, Thiago Scuro.
