Peter Obi Praised as the Future of Nigeria by PDP Leader

Peter Obi praised as Nigeria's hope by PDP leader, Sowunmi. Labour Party vows to prioritize workers' welfare while calling for active youth participation.

Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, has been hailed as the only authentic choice for the 2027 elections by Dr. Segun Sowunmi, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain. Speaking at a talk show in Abuja, organized by members of the Obidient Movement in collaboration with Cyrus Group and the Free Nigeria Foundation, Sowunmi described Obi as a visionary leader determined to find solutions to Nigeria’s challenges.

Sowunmi remarked that Obi stands apart from others who, he claimed, are merely waiting for opportunities they are unprepared for. The political leader shared concerns over the continuous exchange of power between the North and Southwest, sidelining the Igbo region despite Obi’s qualifications and promise. He encouraged Labour Party members and the Obidient Movement to adopt the resilience of Brazil’s political reformers to drive significant change in Nigeria.

At the same event, Labour Party Acting National Chairman, Senator Nenadi Usman, underscored the party’s focus on workers’ welfare. She highlighted five key priorities, including fair wages, labor rights, health benefits, housing programs, and stricter enforcement of labor laws. Usman criticized governance that fails to improve citizens’ livelihoods and urged Nigerians to remain resolute by not trading their future for immediate gains.

FCT Senator Ireti Kingibe voiced her displeasure with the apathy among Nigerian youths, calling for greater civic engagement. Poet Dike Chukwumerije also motivated the audience, stressing the need to prepare for long-term change, essential for the nation’s progress.
