Former British and Commonwealth Light Heavyweight boxing champion, Peter Oboh, has shared his grief over the sudden death of Liverpool footballer Diogo Jota and Bishop Gilbert Juma Deya, who both died in separate car accidents.
Jota, 28, died alongside his younger brother after their Lamborghini veered off the road near Zamora, Spain. The car reportedly suffered a tyre burst while overtaking and went up in flames. Both occupants died at the scene. The Portugal international had recently undergone lung surgery and was advised against flying, prompting the pair to travel to the UK by road and sea.
Peter Oboh described the news as heartbreaking. He also extended his condolences to the family of Bishop Deya, who died weeks earlier in a crash in Kenya. Oboh remembered the late clergyman as a respected spiritual leader who led one of the largest churches in the UK during the late 1990s and early 2000s.
Speaking on the tragedies, Oboh urged drivers to be more cautious, stressing that many accidents can be prevented. He emphasised the importance of patience and road safety, adding that arriving late is far better than not arriving at all.
