Pogba Returns to Football with Monaco After Doping Ban Ends

Paul Pogba is back in action, signing a two-year deal with Monaco after serving an 18-month doping ban that nearly ended his football career.

Paul Pogba is making a comeback to professional football, signing a two-year contract with AS Monaco after serving an 18-month suspension for doping. The former Manchester United and Juventus star had initially been banned for four years following a failed drug test that detected DHEA, a banned substance known to raise testosterone levels. However, the Court of Arbitration for Sport reduced the suspension to 18 months after determining that Pogba unknowingly consumed the substance, which was found to affect only women.

The ban ended earlier this year, opening the door for the French midfielder’s return to the pitch. According to French newspaper Le Parisien, Pogba has agreed to join Monaco and reportedly made major financial compromises to secure the deal. The agreement came after several days of negotiations and a personal visit to the principality in early June.

During his visit, Pogba is said to have met with club executives and started preparing for his move, sorting out personal logistics such as housing, a new driver, and security arrangements. His move to Monaco will also mark a return to Champions League football, with the club having finished third in Ligue 1 behind PSG and Marseille.
