The Nigeria Police Force has denied claims made by Senator Shehu Sani about the detention of #EndSARS protesters, saying no such arrests were made. The Force also announced an extension of the grace period for enforcing the Tinted Glass Permit regulation until August 12, 2025.
Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, approved the extension after public feedback on the digital application process. According to Police spokesperson ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, the decision reflects the Force’s aim to provide open, user-friendly, and accessible services. He said the extension would allow more time to refine the system and avoid putting citizens at a disadvantage.
Adejobi added that the Police are working to improve both physical and online options for applying, including better verification and faster processing. He reminded the public to use the official portal for all applications and renewals and to report any form of extortion or hidden charges through the dedicated helpline: 09169967000.
The Police assured Nigerians of their ongoing commitment to safety, digital innovation, and efficient service, while thanking the public for their patience during the review process.
