A 10-year-old boy has accidentally shot and killed his father, Inspector Okolie Amechi, with the officer’s service rifle in Anambra State. The state police command described the incident as an accidental discharge and said it occurred while the child was handling the officer’s AK-47 rifle, unaware that it was loaded.

According to police spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the boy fired the weapon and struck his father in the back. The same bullet also injured one of his siblings in the hand. Inspector Amechi was rushed to the hospital, but was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty. The injured child is currently receiving treatment and is responding well.
