Police Recover Stolen Goods, Arrest Two in Late-Night Akwa Ibom Raid

Two suspects were arrested and 14 sewing machines recovered as Akwa Ibom police raided hideouts in Uyo during a late-night operation.

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested two men suspected of dealing in stolen goods after a successful operation in Uyo. Acting on intelligence, officers raided known criminal hideouts around 1:15 a.m. on May 23, 2025.

The operation followed orders from the state’s Commissioner of Police, Baba Azare. According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, the raid led to the arrest of Babangida Idris Usman and Awalu Abdullahi. Both are suspected of receiving and keeping stolen property.

During the raid, officers recovered 14 sewing machine heads and a generator. Two victims have already identified their stolen machines among the recovered items.

Investigations are ongoing as police continue efforts to trace the owners of the remaining items and gather more evidence related to the case.
