Relief as Okpebholo Approves Roadworks to Combat Kidnapping and Insecurity in Akoko-Edo

Governor Monday Okpebholo has approved repairs on the Auchi-Igarra-Ibillo road, addressing security issues in Akoko-Edo due to bad roads and frequent kidnappings.

Governor Monday Okpebholo has authorized the repair of 45 damaged sections of the Auchi-Igarra-Ibillo road, which connects parts of Kogi and Ondo states. This decision brings hope to the residents of Akoko-Edo Local Government Area, who have suffered from frequent kidnappings linked to the poor road conditions. The announcement came just days after a protest from youths in Igarra, who highlighted the road’s deterioration and its role in fostering insecurity. The protest also called for the establishment of a military base to improve security. Governor Okpebholo’s approval aims to rejuvenate economic activity in the area, following the recent completion of the Ikiran-Oke-Ikakhumoh road construction. The improvements are expected to offer significant relief to local communities facing security challenges.
