The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Etteh Ibas (Rtd), has publicly denied reports circulating online that he summoned the suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Professor Ngozi Nma Odu. In a strongly worded statement issued by Sir Dede Sampson Friday, Permanent Secretary from the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Ibas dismissed the information as entirely false and intended to mislead.
According to the statement, the Rivers State Government has not issued any such announcement and warned that the claim is one of several fake messages being deliberately spread to stir unrest and confusion within the state. The administrator emphasized that the announcement did not come from any official channel and urged the public not to fall for such misleading narratives.
Describing the content of the reports as malicious and completely fabricated, Ibas made it clear that there was no directive or summons made to either Governor Fubara or his deputy. He cautioned residents and online users to stay alert to fake news and resist sharing unverified stories that may contribute to political instability in Rivers State.
The government reassured citizens of its commitment to peace and transparency, encouraging everyone to rely only on authentic and verified information from credible sources.
