Rivers State Sole Administrator Pledges Commitment to Strengthening Institutions and Enhancing Public Service Efficiency

Rivers State Administrator Ibok-Etteh Ibas commits to improving institutions and public service efficiency, highlighting leadership training for civil servants.

In a recent address, Vice Admiral Ibok-Etteh Ibas (retd), the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, emphasized his administration’s focus on building robust institutions and improving efficiency in the state’s public service sector. Ibas made these remarks during the opening of a four-day leadership training workshop to promote sustainable development. The event, organized by the Rivers State Government in collaboration with the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), is held in Port Harcourt and features participation from Permanent Secretaries, Local Government Administrators, and Directors from various state ministries.

Ibas highlighted that the leadership training for senior civil servants is designed to boost productivity, enhance service delivery, and foster efficiency across the state’s public sector. He stressed the importance of creating a modern and adaptive public service that can meet citizens’ growing expectations amidst rapid global changes.

In his comments, Professor Ayo Omotayo, Director-General of NIPSS, described the workshop theme, “Transformational Leadership for Sustainable Development,” as particularly relevant in light of the dynamic demands of governance. He praised the Rivers State Government for its commitment to sustainable economic growth, infrastructure renewal, and social development, emphasizing that leadership excellence is crucial at all levels.

The Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibibia Worika, also reflected on the training’s significance, noting that it demonstrates the Sole Administrator’s dedication to workforce development. He emphasized that continuous learning is essential for professional growth, particularly in a rapidly evolving global landscape.
