Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, a well-known Islamic scholar based in Kaduna, is back in Nigeria after his trip to Saudi Arabia for the 2025 Hajj was cut short. Gumi revealed on his Facebook page that while he was granted a visa to enter Saudi Arabia, he was stopped from accessing Medina to begin his pilgrimage.
The scholar linked this development to his public views on political matters, suggesting that Saudi authorities may have found his opinions on global politics unfavorable. He stated that although he received a visa, he was effectively blocked from carrying out the Hajj rites.
Gumi appreciated Nigerian authorities, noting that they promised to discuss the issue with Saudi officials. His early return has sparked conversations about the intersection of religion, politics, and international relations.
