The Nigerian Senate has confirmed Senator Olubunmi Adetunmbi from Ekiti State as the Chairman of the South-West Development Commission (SWDC). Charles Akinola was also approved as the Managing Director, alongside 16 others appointed to serve on the board.
The confirmation followed the presentation of a report by the Senate Committee on the South-West Development Commission, chaired by Senator Yunus Akintunde from Oyo Central. The committee had earlier received the list of nominees from President Bola Tinubu, who requested their screening and approval.
Other confirmed members of the board include Bolaji Ariyo, Joseph Olugbenga, Scholastica Omoworare, Olumuyiwa Olabimtan, Adewinle Martins, Ibrahim Olaifa, Kabiru Lakwaya, retired General Abdul Adamu, Arinola Fagbemi, Ukoha Onyekwere, and Howell Ihenacho.
The Senate also confirmed the appointments of five executive directors:

With the board now fully constituted, the South-West Development Commission is set to begin its work across the six states in the region, focusing on policies and initiatives aimed at promoting economic growth and regional development.
