Students Burn Principal’s House Over Missing NECO Registration in Benue

Students in Benue set their principal’s house on fire after he allegedly collected exam fees but failed to register them for the 2025 NECO exams.

Final-year students of Gyutiev Model College in Saghev Ward, Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, reportedly set fire to the home of their principal, Mr. Isaac Yina, during the early hours of Friday, June 27, 2025.

According to sources, the students accused the principal of collecting ₦85,000 each from 178 of them for the 2025 National Examination Council (NECO) registration but failing to carry out the registration. When they discovered they had not been registered, the students reacted with anger and allegedly took the law into their own hands by burning down his residence.

The matter has sparked concern among parents and residents in the community, with many calling for an investigation into the alleged misconduct and the destruction of property. Authorities are expected to step in to restore calm and ensure justice is served on both sides.
