Sule Lamido: I Support Anti-Tinubu Coalition but Won’t Leave PDP

Sule Lamido backs opposition coalition against Tinubu but vows to remain in PDP, saying he won’t abandon the party he helped build.

Former Governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, has expressed support for the coalition of opposition parties working to challenge President Bola Tinubu’s presidency in 2027. He made this known during an interview in Abuja, stating that while he fully supports the coalition’s goal, he will not leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which he helped establish.

The coalition, led by former Senate President David Mark under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), is rallying support from opposition figures. Lamido acknowledged their efforts, saying he is ready to campaign and work with them, but insisted his political base remains with the PDP.

He described the PDP as a party that, despite being in critical condition, is worth saving. According to him, leaving the PDP would go against his principles, especially after investing so much in building it. He explained that his decision contrasts with that of Senator David Mark, who chose to step away from the PDP.

Lamido emphasized that his own sacrifice is to stay and fight for the party’s survival, aiming to help Nigeria become more united, secure, and prosperous.

He also criticized the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, accusing him and a few others of sabotaging the PDP from within. Lamido claimed they were working closely with the APC and President Tinubu, hoping to benefit from the collapse of the PDP.

Despite the challenges, Lamido expressed confidence that the PDP would survive and outlast those attempting to weaken it.
