Superman Star Dean Cain Claims He Was Sexually Harassed on Set

Dean Cain says he faced serious sexual harassment during "Lois & Clark" and regrets not suing, claiming Hollywood kept him silent with fear tactics.

Dean Cain, best known for playing Superman in the 1990s TV show Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, has revealed he experienced serious sexual harassment while working on the series. In a recent interview with Variety, the 58-year-old actor said he could have filed “the biggest sexual harassment lawsuit in Hollywood history.”

Cain did not go into detail about the alleged incidents, but the report noted that the harassment affected his relationship with then-girlfriend and volleyball star Gabrielle Reece. Cain was originally set to direct several episodes of the show before it ended abruptly after its fourth season, leaving fans with a cliffhanger.

The actor recalled the show’s steamy scenes, often featuring him and co-star Teri Hatcher in intimate situations. Despite the difficulties, he praised Hatcher as the best Lois Lane ever and credited her with driving the show’s success.

Cain admitted he didn’t mind being labeled a sex symbol during that time, saying most men would consider it a flattering compliment. Before acting, he had a short stint in professional football and said the money from Lois & Clark far surpassed his sports earnings. However, he described the filming schedule as exhausting, with work weeks lasting nearly non-stop from early Monday to Saturday morning—a schedule he jokingly called “Fraturday.”

He also expressed regret about how little he understood his contractual rights back then. According to Cain, Warner Bros. allegedly withheld residual payments and used accounting tricks to hide profits. He believes he should have taken legal action, as George Clooney once did with ER. But Cain said he was advised against it, warned that standing up to a major studio could harm his career.

Fox News Digital has contacted both Warner Bros. and Cain for comment.
