Terrorists Attack Military Base in Yobe, Four Soldiers Killed

Boko Haram terrorists attack a military base in Yobe State, killing four soldiers and causing destruction. Residents flee as key roads are closed.

Suspected Boko Haram insurgents attacked the 27 Task Force Brigade in Buni Yadi, Yobe State, resulting in the deaths of four soldiers. The assault, which occurred early Saturday morning, also caused destruction and looting of military equipment belonging to Operation Hadin Kai.

According to a security source, the attackers struck around 2 a.m., launching a fierce battle that surprised soldiers. Despite heavy gunfire and explosions, troops resisted the assault. The source confirmed losses on both sides during the prolonged clash.

The military acknowledged the incident via a statement on its verified Facebook page, describing ongoing combat with ISWAP fighters in the area but refraining from providing further casualty updates at the time.

This attack follows closely after a regional governors’ meeting in Damaturu that discussed strategies to address insurgency in the region. It also coincides with the recent appointment of a new Theatre Commander, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar.

Residents reported fleeing their homes for safety, as the attack disrupted normal activities. Authorities temporarily shut down the Biu-Damaturu-Maiduguri road, hampering travel. Buni Yadi, where the attack occurred, is the home of Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni and is 65km from the state capital.
