“They Want to Break Him”: Cubana Chief Priest Speaks Out After E-Money’s EFCC Arrest

Cubana Chief Priest defends E-Money after EFCC arrest, claims political forces are trying to silence rising influence from the Southeast.

Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has publicly backed his friend and fellow businessman Emeka Okonkwo, also known as E-Money, following E-Money’s arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). E-Money was taken into custody at his home in the Omole area of Lagos on Monday night over allegations of naira abuse and spraying foreign currency—specifically US dollars—at a public event.

In an Instagram post shared on Tuesday, Cubana Chief Priest expressed strong support for E-Money, highlighting his recent efforts to promote the Southeast region through his Easter Homecoming concert. He claimed that E-Money’s rising influence may have triggered certain interests to act against him.

Cubana Chief Priest suggested that the arrest was politically motivated and aimed at pressuring E-Money into submission. He said those responsible want to weaken E-Money’s position so they can force his support for their own agendas. According to him, the tactics are part of a wider pattern of oppression targeting people from the Southeast.

He stressed that despite attempts to suppress them, Igbos will remain resilient. He added that more wealthy and influential individuals would continue to emerge from the region and that, come 2027, they will use their votes, wealth, and unity to support candidates of their choice.

Referring to his own legal battle, Cubana Chief Priest mentioned that he faced a similar situation earlier in April for allegedly spraying cash at an event held at Eko Hotel. He pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the sum of ₦10 million. The case was eventually dismissed by Justice Kehinde Ogundare after both parties reached a settlement.

Cubana Chief Priest closed his message by assuring E-Money that this experience would only make him stronger, comparing the situation to owning a Rolls Royce—something that signifies status among the wealthy.
