Top Officials to Attend FEC Session Honouring Late President Buhari

Tinubu approves special FEC session for Buhari; Akpabio, Abbas, and CJN Kekere-Ekun among key attendees. Mourning events continue in Abuja and Daura.

President Bola Tinubu has approved a special session of the Federal Executive Council to honour the late former President Muhammadu Buhari. The meeting will be held at 5:00 pm on Thursday inside the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

According to a statement released by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, the session will be attended by top government figures. These include Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, Chief Justice of Nigeria Olukayode Ariwoola, represented by Justice Olukayode Kekere-Ekun, and members of Buhari’s family.

Before the session, Vice President Kashim Shettima will lead a delegation to Daura, Katsina State, for the third-day prayer at the late President’s residence. The team includes cabinet ministers and senior officials of the Federal Government.

Additional memorial events have been planned. A special prayer will take place at the National Mosque in Abuja on Friday, July 18. A church service in Buhari’s honour will follow on Sunday, July 20.

These activities are part of the official mourning programme approved by President Tinubu.
