A tragic boat accident in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State has claimed the lives of 13 people, with 26 others rescued alive. According to a statement released on Sunday evening by the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), the vessel was carrying 39 passengers when the incident occurred on Saturday.
The latest figures show that among the deceased were eight women, three men, and two children. The bodies have been recovered and buried. The cause of the mishap has not yet been disclosed, but authorities are continuing investigations and search efforts, while survivors receive care.
