Aminu Hamidu, the newly elected chairman of Bakori Local Government Area in Katsina State, has passed away just weeks after taking office. He assumed the role in April 2025 and died on Monday, though the cause of death has not been officially confirmed.
Sources close to the matter hinted that Hamidu had been battling health issues, but no formal statement has verified this claim.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Katsina State, Kaula Mohammed, issued a statement confirming the chairman’s death. Governor Dikko Radda expressed deep sorrow, describing Hamidu as a loyal party member, a dedicated public servant, and a grassroots leader committed to serving the people with humility and integrity.
The governor praised Hamidu’s work in government as consistent and people-centred, noting that he was never one to seek attention, yet made a strong impression in a short time through sincere leadership.
On behalf of the state government and the people of Katsina, Governor Radda extended condolences to Hamidu’s family, the people of Bakori, and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
