Tragedy Strikes in Port Harcourt: Car Crashes into Pedestrians, Leaving 6 Feared Dead

A high-speed car crash in Port Harcourt leaves six feared dead as the vehicle plows into pedestrians. Driver flees, and police investigate.

At least six people are feared dead following a tragic accident in the Eliozu area of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Port Harcourt, Rivers State. On Monday, a car traveling at high speed lost control and veered off the road, crashing into pedestrians on the walkway. The vehicle struck several electric poles before plowing into the victims.

Eyewitnesses report that the car’s occupants, believed to be young men involved in internet fraud (often referred to as “Yahoo boys”), quickly fled the scene after the crash. Six people were found lifeless at the scene when emergency responders arrived. The police from the Rumuokoro Special Area took control of the scene, removing the bodies and impounding the vehicle.

According to Grace Iringe-Koko, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Police Command, three people have been confirmed dead, while the other three are currently in the hospital receiving medical treatment. The driver of the vehicle remains at large, and investigations are ongoing to apprehend those responsible for the incident.
