Kano State Police Command reported a deadly explosion at Yongxing Steel Company in Mariri Quarters along Ring Road, Kano. The company’s marketing manager, Ibrahim Udazu, notified authorities about the blast, which occurred on the factory grounds and injured several people. Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Bakori led a response team, including the Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit and the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Response Team, to the site. Officers secured the area to prevent further danger and recovered five suspected explosive devices. Initial findings suggest the explosion happened while workers unloaded scrap materials from a truck arriving from Damaturu, Yobe State. Fifteen people were injured and taken to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, where five later died. The remaining victims are receiving medical care. Bakori ordered a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the incident and called on residents to stay calm, remain vigilant, and assist the police with any relevant information.
