Tragic Loss: Renowned Broadcaster Bukola Agbakaizu Passes Away in Abeokuta

Bukola Agbakaizu, a respected broadcaster at Ogun State Television, tragically passes away at 52, leaving behind a legacy of dedication to journalism.

Abeokuta, Ogun State – Bukola Agbakaizu, a prominent broadcast journalist at Ogun State Television (OGTV), passed away unexpectedly on Monday after collapsing while preparing for her afternoon shift. The 52-year-old journalist’s sudden death was confirmed by Bunmi Adigun, Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Council.

Agbakaizu, a former Vice Chairman of the OGTV Chapel, had long been known for her unwavering commitment to journalism. Despite efforts to revive her, she was pronounced dead upon arriving at the Federal Medical Centre. Her passing has left a deep void in the community, as her colleagues mourn the loss of a passionate and dedicated professional.

In a statement, the Ogun State chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) expressed its sorrow, describing her death as a devastating shock. Chairperson Sekinat Salam paid tribute to Agbakaizu’s outstanding leadership and contributions to the journalism profession, stating that her death has left an irreplaceable gap within the association. Salam also emphasized Agbakaizu’s compassion, dedication, and love for her work, which will be fondly remembered by those who knew her.

Agbakaizu leaves behind her two children, her elderly mother, and a network of colleagues and friends who will continue to cherish her memory. Her legacy of service and dedication to both God and humanity will be remembered for years to come. The journalism community in Ogun State, as well as her family, will keep her in their thoughts and prayers.
