Three suspected bandits were killed by troops of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) during a targeted operation in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State. According to a statement released on Sunday by Major Samson Zhakom, the media officer for OPSH, the operation was launched based on credible intelligence.
Soldiers moved in on a known criminal hideout near the Pinau community, an area linked with several attacks along the Pinau–Gimbi road. The suspects opened fire but were overpowered by the troops. Three were confirmed dead after the gunfight, while others escaped with injuries.
A search of the area led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle and a loaded magazine. Troops have now begun a follow-up operation to track down the fleeing suspects.
