Troops of the 22 Armoured Brigade, operating from the Forward Operating Base in Patigi, Kwara State, have captured eight suspected kidnappers and freed two victims after a raid on a hideout near Latandaji Village. The Nigerian Army confirmed the operation was carried out on Saturday, June 21, 2025, based on credible intelligence.
The military team faced light resistance but quickly overpowered the suspects. During the raid, two men — Amos Moses and Philip Michael — were rescued unharmed. One individual, identified as Mohammed Mohammed, sustained gunshot wounds during the exchange and was taken to Bachita Teaching Hospital for treatment.
Troops also recovered two motorcycles and empty cartridge shells believed to have been used by the suspects. All eight arrested individuals remain in custody and are undergoing preliminary investigation ahead of prosecution.
The Army stressed that this mission reflects its ongoing commitment to protecting citizens and dismantling criminal groups across the country. It also urged the public to share timely information to aid similar operations in the future.
