Trump Shrugs Off Musk Fallout Amid Feud Over Spending Bill, Contracts at Risk

Trump responds calmly to Elon Musk split after $300M support, despite threats to end government deals and Tesla stocks plunging.

President Donald Trump has downplayed the collapse of his alliance with Elon Musk, saying “Oh, it’s okay” during a conversation with POLITICO. The comment follows a public falling-out between the two, who had once formed a high-profile political partnership.

According to reports, White House staff have arranged a call with Musk in an attempt to ease tensions. The rift between the president and the Tesla CEO escalated on Thursday after Musk criticized Trump’s proposed spending bill. In response, Trump threatened to withdraw federal contracts held by Musk’s companies.

During a broadcast from the Oval Office, Trump said he was “very disappointed” by Musk’s remarks. The disagreement quickly spilled onto social media, with both parties exchanging sharp comments. Musk, who reportedly donated $300 million to Trump’s campaign, claimed that Trump’s 2024 election victory wouldn’t have been possible without his support.

Despite the back-and-forth, Trump told POLITICO that everything was “going very well” and used the opportunity to highlight his high favorability ratings. However, the dispute has already shown signs of economic impact. Tesla shares took a hit, and Musk hinted at halting a key US space program in response to Trump’s threats.

The situation remains fluid, with political and financial consequences hanging in the balance.
