Unilever Nigeria Sees Major Profit Surge in Q1 2025

Unilever Nigeria’s sales growth across food and personal care products drives a 147% profit boost in Q1 2025.

Unilever Nigeria Plc has announced a significant rise in profit for the first quarter of 2025, largely driven by strong sales in its food, personal care, and other product categories. The company’s profit before tax (PBT) reached N10.7 billion, marking a 146.67% increase from N4.3 billion in the same period last year.

The company’s financial report for Q1 2025, which ended on March 31, revealed that total revenue surged by 45.37%, reaching N46.9 billion, up from N32.3 billion in Q1 2024. The food segment was the largest contributor, generating N27.5 billion in sales, followed by personal care products at N15.1 billion, and beauty and wellbeing products at N4.3 billion.

Despite a rise in the cost of sales to N28.1 billion, up from N18.8 billion the previous year, gross profit increased to N18.8 billion, up from N13.5 billion. Marketing and administrative expenses grew by 9.67%, totaling N9 billion, compared to N8.2 billion in Q1 2024.

Operating profit saw a significant improvement, reaching N8.2 billion, a 115.18% increase from the previous year. Additionally, finance income rose by 32.80% to N2.6 billion, primarily due to higher interest from call deposits and bank accounts. Finance costs, on the other hand, decreased sharply to N172 million, down from N1.4 billion in Q1 2024.

The company’s total assets grew by 9.50% to N155.09 billion, and retained earnings increased by 21.84%, reaching N30.9 billion.

This performance highlights Unilever Nigeria’s continued resilience and growth across its product categories, positioning the company for a strong year ahead.
