Wabara Applauds Tinubu and Wike for Reopening PDP Headquarters in Abuja

PDP BoT chair Wabara thanks President Tinubu and Minister Wike for reopening the party’s HQ after a temporary closure over unpaid ground rent issues.

Senator Adolphus Wabara, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former Senate President, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for stepping in to reopen the PDP’s national headquarters in Abuja.

The PDP headquarters, located at Wadata Plaza, Wuse Zone 5, was sealed by officials from the FCT Administration due to allegations of unpaid ground rent. The move sparked strong reactions from the public and party elders. In response, President Tinubu ordered a temporary suspension of the enforcement action. He gave property owners, including the PDP, a 14-day grace period to resolve any outstanding issues with the FCT authorities. The President’s directive was announced through a statement by Chijoke Nwankwoeze, Director of Land Administration for the FCT.

Senator Wabara thanked both President Tinubu and Minister Wike for what he called a mature and thoughtful response to the concerns raised by party leaders and citizens. He said their decision to unseal the building was a clear example of how peaceful dialogue can be more effective than force. He also noted that the move helped protect Nigeria’s image internationally and reduced the growing tension caused by the earlier closure.

Wabara expressed hope that the matter would be resolved within the time frame given by the President. He urged the FCT Administration to show leniency, pointing out that the country’s economic difficulties have made it hard for many property owners in Abuja to meet financial obligations.
