Wabara Rejects Tinubu’s Economic Revival Claims, Calls It an Insult to Suffering Nigerians

Senator Wabara slams Tinubu’s claim of economic recovery, citing rising hunger, inflation, and insecurity as proof Nigerians are still struggling.

Senator Adolphus Wabara, former Senate President and current Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees, has dismissed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent claims of reviving Nigeria’s economy. Speaking publicly, Wabara called the statement offensive to Nigerians who are still facing widespread economic hardship.

He questioned why citizens would need to be told the economy was improving if that were truly the case. According to him, visible changes like affordable food prices and lower inflation should speak for themselves.

Wabara criticized the government for what he described as worsening conditions, pointing to rising inflation, growing hunger, and deepening poverty. He said these factors clearly show that the economy is not getting better.

He urged President Tinubu to shift focus from public statements to meaningful reforms. Wabara called for a review of economic policies, especially those involving multiple taxation. He believes the current tax burden is choking businesses and worsening people’s living conditions.

On security, Wabara stressed that attacks from bandits and herders have pushed many farmers out of their lands, affecting food supply across the country. He warned that food insecurity will only worsen if safety issues are not resolved quickly.

Wabara also accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of damaging the economy handed over by the PDP. He claimed that under PDP leadership, Nigeria was among the top two economies in Africa, a position he said has since been lost.

Despite the bleak outlook, he expressed confidence in Nigeria’s recovery, once the PDP returns to power in 2027.
