WHO Delivers New Hospital to Borno State, Boosting Healthcare Access

The World Health Organization hands over a new hospital to Borno State, promising better healthcare for residents.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has officially handed over a newly built hospital to the Borno State Government to support the state’s healthcare system. The Phase 2 General Hospital, located in Biu—Borno’s third-largest town, was commissioned over the weekend. Governor Babagana Zulum, represented by his deputy, Alhaji Umar Kadafur, praised WHO for its ongoing support and strong partnership with the state.

Governor Zulum said the hospital’s construction would significantly strengthen healthcare delivery in Biu and surrounding communities. He assured WHO that the facility would be fully utilized to improve access to quality medical services for residents.

WHO Country Representative to Nigeria, Dr. Walter Kazadi Mulombo, expressed gratitude to the Borno State Government for trusting WHO to assist in meeting the health needs of the people. He also reaffirmed WHO’s commitment to supporting and collaborating with the state in future healthcare initiatives.
