The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, on Friday announced that 40 additional schools will be rehabilitated across Abuja. The declaration came shortly after he flagged off the construction of a new major road linking Wuse District to the Central Area.
Wike said the rehabilitation programme adds to more than 70 education projects already ongoing in the territory, with about 45 completed and furnished. He stressed that education, road development, and healthcare remain priorities for the FCT Administration in line with President Bola Tinubu’s directive to ensure no sector is neglected.
He added that road infrastructure remains key to attracting investments, citing a Dubai investor’s plan to replicate the famous City Walk in Abuja as an example of growing confidence in the capital.
Wike noted that the current phase of flag-offs and commissioning will run until October 20, with additional projects scheduled for inauguration from November.
The Minister of State for the FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, described the new road project as a milestone for connectivity within the capital and praised the National Assembly for supporting the project with budgetary backing.
The initiatives, according to Wike, reflect the administration’s focus on strengthening infrastructure and creating an environment that supports education and investment in the Federal Capital Territory.
