A violent windstorm has torn through Garba-Chede in Bali Local Government Area of Taraba State, killing six people and injuring at least 30 others. The storm, which residents say was one of the worst they’ve ever experienced, caused widespread damage across the town. Homes, shops, places of worship, and schools were left in ruins.
Abubakar Dodo, a local resident whose house was destroyed, described the situation as tragic. He said many families lost their food supplies and properties worth millions of naira, and only a few buildings remained untouched.
Chief Kaigama Maigandi, the traditional ruler of Garba-Chede, has asked Governor Agbu Kefas to send immediate help. He urged the state government to step in quickly to assist those affected and help the town rebuild.
Officials from the North East Development Commission (NEDC) have visited the community to assess the damage. The team, led by Dr. Balutu Isa Mohammed, met with victims and assured them that help was on the way. They also visited the chief to explain their mission and confirm their plans to support the recovery of the area.
