Operatives from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested Ihensekhien Obehi at Port Harcourt International Airport for attempting to smuggle cocaine to Iran. Disguised in a hijab, Obehi was caught on Sunday, May 3, 2025, while boarding a Qatar Airways flight to Iran via Doha. During a search, NDLEA officials discovered three wraps of cocaine concealed in her private parts, two large parcels hidden in her handbag’s false bottom, and 67 pellets that she had swallowed. After multiple days of observation, Obehi expelled all 67 wraps after excreting them over four separate occasions. She revealed she had intended to swallow 70 pellets but had to stop after ingesting 67 and resorted to hiding the remaining three in her private area. The total weight of the drugs concealed within her body amounted to 2.523 kilograms.
In another operation, NDLEA officers at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos arrested 22-year-old British national Campbell Slifer. He was found with 35 parcels of Loud, a potent cannabis strain, weighing 37.6 kilograms. Slifer admitted to being recruited in London to transport the drugs from Thailand to Nigeria. Additional seizures included the interception of a fuel tanker and three other vehicles in Niger State, containing 246 bags of skunk weighing 3,047 kilograms, with four suspects arrested. In Lagos, 1.1 kilograms of cannabis concealed in a pillow from Thailand were seized. Officers in Bauchi intercepted a Toyota Tundra jeep carrying 526 blocks of skunk. In Kano, a raid led to the recovery of 775 liters of codeine syrup, with two more suspects arrested.
