At the National Counter Terrorism Centre in Abuja, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Walson-Jack, addressed newly appointed Permanent Secretaries and the Accountant-General during their induction ceremony. She reminded them that their appointments reflect their dedication, experience, and proven commitment to public service.
Walson-Jack encouraged the officials to approach their new roles with urgency, guided by the civil service reform strategy known as FCSSIP 25. She referenced the theme, “2025: Year of Accomplishment,” and emphasized the importance of making meaningful progress as the reforms enter their final phase.
She advised the inductees to fully engage with the training program, highlighting the value of insights from experienced speakers. She described the sessions as an opportunity to learn practical strategies that can support their leadership goals.
Urging teamwork and accountability, Walson-Jack stressed the need for open communication across all levels of government. She called for respectful collaboration and a shared commitment to success. Her remarks echoed her broader push to modernize the civil service, aiming for lasting reforms rooted in transparency and development.
Permanent Secretary Fatima Mahmood also addressed the gathering, describing the induction as a timely step toward improving government performance. She thanked President Bola Tinubu for the confidence shown in the new appointments and said the nation expected results, not routine. Mahmood reminded the group that effective leadership requires more than skill—it demands unity, courage, and a clear sense of purpose.
Among the newly inducted Permanent Secretaries are Obi Emeka Vitalis, assigned to Budget and Economic Planning, and Mahmood Fatima Sugra Tabi’a, appointed to the Career Management Office, along with 16 others.
