Yul Edochie Claims Some Pastors Secretly Practice Traditional Rites

Yul Edochie says many pastors quietly perform traditional rites but hide it from their members to avoid criticism.

Actor and founder of True Salvation Ministry, Yul Edochie, has alleged that several pastors and priests secretly perform traditional rites but keep it hidden to avoid being labelled as fetish. In a post shared on his verified Facebook page, Edochie suggested that religious leaders often return to their hometowns to carry out traditional practices, which they believe help clear spiritual obstacles.

He claimed many pastors are traditionalists who fear backlash from their congregations. According to him, this silence is driven by a concern that church members may accuse them of practicing ‘juju’ or mixing beliefs.

Edochie urged pastors to be honest about their use of traditional methods, saying tradition should not be mistaken for superstition. He added that relying solely on spiritual means like the Holy Ghost may not be enough, especially in cases that require cultural solutions. In his words, “We’re Africans. The Holy Ghost doesn’t solve every problem. Some problems require traditional solutions.”

In another update shared the same day, Edochie disclosed that reconnecting with his roots and embracing Igbo traditional religion, known as Omenaani, has been a fulfilling experience. He expressed gratitude for discovering this path and mentioned he wished he had started much earlier.
