Blessing Agbomhere, the South South Zonal Organizing Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has taken to social media to caution influencer Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan, for crossing the line between activism and character assassination. Agbomhere called for an apology from VeryDarkMan after his unwarranted verbal attack on Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
In a viral video, VeryDarkMan criticized Akpabio for attending the funeral of Pope Francis in Rome, calling the visit shameful and suggesting that Akpabio should have spent the time addressing the ongoing security crises in states like Benue, Plateau, Kwara, Ogun, and Enugu.
Agbomhere condemned these remarks, urging the influencer to immediately apologize to Akpabio for the slander. He emphasized that the Senate President’s trip was officially sanctioned by President Bola Tinubu, who nominated Akpabio to lead the Nigerian delegation at the Pope’s funeral. Agbomhere pointed out that Akpabio’s presence was in line with his religious devotion and role as a representative of Nigeria.
He further warned VeryDarkMan to stop using his platform to engage in what he described as blackmail and baseless attacks on key figures in Nigeria’s government. “This attack is another of such aimless, baseless, and uninformed diatribes,” Agbomhere said, urging Nigerians to ignore VeryDarkMan’s comments.
Agbomhere also defended the Tinubu administration’s approach to security, emphasizing that the government is actively working to address the country’s complex security issues, which were inherited from previous administrations. He stressed that securing the country takes time and commitment, with President Tinubu actively engaging with security officials to deploy a more effective strategy.
Agbomhere has given VeryDarkMan a one-week ultimatum to apologize to Akpabio and cease his damaging commentary, emphasizing that these actions were undermining the integrity of the administration.
