Woman arrested in Lagos for poisoning a 65-year-old man to death; police vow to bring criminals to justice.

A 35-year-old woman, Adeola Adewale, was arrested in Lagos for the suspected murder of a 65-year-old man, Mr. Adebayo, who was found dead in a service apartment in Abule-Egba. According to the Lagos State Police Command, Adeola and Mr. Adebayo had rented the apartment on March 27, 2025. Hours later, she left with Adebayo’s car and personal belongings, telling the housekeeper she would return shortly.

The following day, during a routine check, the housekeeper discovered Mr. Adebayo’s lifeless body in the apartment. Investigators found an empty syringe, two cans of malt drink, and two bottles of water at the scene. The victim’s body was taken to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital for an autopsy, while authorities launched a manhunt for Adeola.

After an intensive investigation, the police apprehended Adeola in the Oko-Oba area of Lagos on April 26, 2025. During questioning, she confessed to poisoning the deceased by lacing a malt drink with a toxic substance, which led to his death. Investigations revealed the victim’s identity as Mr. Adebayo.

The suspect remains in custody, and the police have assured the public that further details of the case will be shared as the investigation progresses. Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, emphasized the Command’s dedication to protecting residents and bringing those involved in criminal activities to justice.
